Thank you very much for coming to our island. We are very happy for your visit to the Synagogue and your interest in “the Mosque of Kos”. Kos, however, does not have only one Mosque. Our main Mosque, Gazi Hassan Pasha, is being repaired with money from the Greek State.

On 2/11/2022 we also held the inauguration of the works with the blessing of our Imam and the presence of the Metropolitan of Kos. The photos you are publishing are from the Defterdar Mosque, which has been classified as a monument and has suffered more serious damage than the Gazi Hassan Pasha Mosque. For this reason it was necessary to carry out special studies.

For the restoration of the Defterdar Mosque, the Greek State has already secured the sum of 1,000,000 euros and after the completion of the preparatory procedures (studies, tender for the award of the project, etc.), work has begun. The photos you are posting are old, and even before April 2023, when a fence was placed around the Mosque due to the commencement of works. We wonder what purpose is served by publishing old photos.

Dear friends, we will be very happy to host you whenever you want, to show you around the Mosques of our island and many other attractions. And, as is our custom on Kos, at the end of the tour we will have the opportunity to discuss what you have seen on the island of Hippocrates, while enjoying local delicacies.
