Elvan Kotzaoglan on RV: Four Homes Being Built by Vakouf Kos in Platani to Be Offered Rent-Free to Doctors Serving at the Hospital

Elvan Kotzaoglan’s term as President of the Vakouf of Kos has been officially renewed by the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Kyriakos Pierrakakis—along with the terms of the organization’s Board of Directors. The new term will last two years.

Speaking to Real Voice 99.5 and journalist Natasa Pampri on the program “Together at 10,” Ms. Kotzaoglan outlined the goals and priorities for the upcoming year.

As she noted, among other things, financial assistance to economically disadvantaged fellow citizens facing health challenges will continue, and at the beginning of March, with the start of Ramadan, additional support will be provided to underprivileged residents of Kos.

She emphasized that the organization will continue to provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged residents who face health challenges. Additionally, at the start of Ramadan in early March, special aid will be distributed to low-income residents of Kos. The President also highlighted that two students—one Christian and one Muslim—continue to receive a monthly housing subsidy of €350 during their studies, selected based on financial criteria. A key initiative discussed was the construction of four homes in the Platani area, which will be offered free of charge to doctors who choose to serve at the General Hospital of Kos. The housing complex, developed by the Vakouf, is located behind the EFKA (formerly IKA) building. The goal is for construction to be completed within the current term, so the homes can be made available to medical staff.

Finally, Ms. Kotzaoglan noted that the Vakouf is actively seeking to purchase a home in Athens. This residence will be provided free of charge to patients from Kos and their caregivers who need to travel to the capital for medical treatment and cannot afford hotel accommodation during their stay.
